ATRIDOX Polymers

Question

Are PLA and NMP in the ATRIDOX polymer safe?

Answer

PLA and NMP, contents of the ATRIDOX® polymer, are both inert, bioabsorbable, safe substances. PLA and NMP have demonstrated low toxicity potential in animal and human studies. PLA has a longtime safety profile in its use as a dissolvable suture. Long-term studies with NMP in rats and mice have not demonstrated any carcinogenic activity. NMP is not considered teratogenic, but doses much higher than those contained in ATRIDOX have resulted in fetal malformations in animal studies. Upon absorption through body tissues, PLA and NMP are metabolized and excreted primarily in the urine.
