Atridox Antibiotic Gel

A Non-Invasive Locally Applied Antibiotic Gel for the Treatment of Chronic Periodontal Disease

Bioabsorbability of ATRIDOX

Question

Are there any studies to demonstrate that ATRIDOX® is bioabsorbable if not removed?

Answer

A study was performed to compare the safety and efficacy of ATRIDOX® gum disease therapy when left in or removed after 7 days. Six hundred five gum disease patients were randomized to receive ATRIDOX covered with Coe-Pak™ or Octyldent™ or vehicle control covered with Octyldent™. Patients were evaluated 7 days, and 1 and 2 months post-treatment. Only those patients who received Octyldent were evaluated for Atridox retention (ATRIDOX removed at day 7 in Coe-Pak™ group) at 1 and 2 months post-treatment. At the one month evaluation, 98% of the ATRIDOX was bioabsorbed or expelled. At 2 months, 99.7% of the product was bioabsorbed or expelled.
